Mrs. Catherine J. Murray, 85, of Lehighton, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 18, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the widow of Daniel J. Murray. They were married on Aug. 27, 1949.

She was a housewife/homemaker, supporting her family's endeavors. Born in Sayre, Pa., she was a daughter of the late John and Anna (Materna) Haluska. She attended school in Sayre, graduating valedictorian of the Class of 1945. She was an active member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton, where she belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and mastering Pysanka Ukrainian Easter eggs. She was a family-oriented person and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are three daughters, Anna Marie, wife of Robert Howard of Rome, Pa., Mary, wife of Robert Riddett of Lawrencville, Ga., and Barbara, wife of John Ibaugh of Buford, Ga.; a son Richard, and his wife, Deborah, of Grayson, Ga.; a sister, Mary Haluska of Waverly, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Susan Murray of Downingtown, Pa.; 11 grandchildren, Christopher Murray, Hillary McLaughlin, Bryan Murray, Eileen Howard, Daryl Howard, Stephen Howard, Karl Riddett, Peter Riddett, Nathan Murray, Ryan Murray and Karinna Riddett Moore; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was also predeceased by a son Dennis; and four brothers, Peter, Michael, A. Charles and John.

Service: Prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23, in the Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home, Fourth and Iron streets, Lehighton; Mass of Christian Burial, SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton, with the Rev. Michael E. Ahrensfield and the Rev. Msgr. William E. Handges as concelebrants. Call 6-8 p.m. Friday and 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday. Vigil service 5:45 p.m. Friday. Rosary recitation 8 a.m. Saturday. Contributions in her name may be made to SS. Peter and Paul Parochial School, 242 N. Third St., Lehighton, Pa. 18235.
