James R. Blubaugh, 91, of Brazil, passed away on March 2, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side.

Jim was born April 24, 1922, in Owen County, the son of the late John and Glenna (Thompson) Blubaugh. Jim was drafted in 1942 by the United States Army, where he served three years during World War II under General Patton. He was a Purple Heart recipient. Jim married Deloris M. Bixler on October 31, 1942. Jim worked at GE in Bloomington where he retired in 1986 after 18 years.

He was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Knightsville and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1405. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, farming, gardening, working and taking care of his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Roy Carson Blubaugh, Mary Alice Blubaugh, and Florence Maxine Allee.

Jim is survived by his wife of 71 years, Deloris Blubaugh; children, Gilbert L. Blubaugh and wife, Shirley, of South Carolina, Jimmy L. Blubaugh and wife, Alma, of Harmony, Steve K. Blubaugh and wife, Dawn, of South Carolina, Barbara S. Butler and husband, James, of Indianapolis; brother, Robert "Buss" Thompson; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 7, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Pastor Don Simmons officiating. Burial and Military Honors will follow at Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Music will be provided by Mr. Steve McCullough.
