Frances A. Gretzinger, age 85 years, of Clintonville passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 at Emeritus Senior Living at Fox River, Appleton.

The former Frances Alice Kriewaldt was born August 25, 1928 in the Town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, to Julius and Katherine (Lowenberger) Kriewaldt. She graduated from Clintonville High School in 1946 and was a lifelong resident of the area. Frances was united in marriage on December 27, 1947 to Charles J. Gretzinger at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville. In her younger years she worked as a bookkeeper with Atlas Conveyor and Lendved Hardstore Store, both in Clintonville. Frances was employed part-time for close to 23 years at First Wisconsin, Clintonville, doing data processing. She was also the bookkeeper for her husband at Gretzinger's Grocery Store in Marion for some time. Her husband preceded her in death on January 8, 2005.

Frances was a member of Christus Lutheran Church where she actively served as treasurer on the church council. She was also involved at church with the CLCW, especially volunteering to help with numerous funeral luncheons. Her interests included knitting, crocheting, sewing, and nature, more importantly bird watching. Frances was proud to be a homemaker who loved and raised her family, and enjoyed her cat, who she claimed as her fifth child.

Survivors include three children; Jeff (Mary) Gretzinger of Waunakee, WI, Colny (Jill) Gretzinger of Appleton, and Carmen Gretzinger of Clintonville. There is one son-in-law, Mike Brisson of Sturgeon Bay. There are 8 grandchildren; Erica, Jeremy, Renae, Randall, Matthew, Laura, Craig, and Sean. There are 3 great grandchildren, Lisette, Antonia, and Lillian. There are 4 sisters-in-law, Carol Kriewaldt of Fredrick, MD, Elaine Hurley of Milwaukee, Nancy Gretzinger of Appleton, and Barbara (Martin) Niemuth of Clintonville. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles, a daughter, Carey Brisson, 4 sisters, Eleanora Elliott, Viola Piehl, Hattie Thom, and Julianna Matravers, and 3 brothers, Alex, Lawrence, and her twin, Franklin Kriewaldt.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 28th at 11:30 AM at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville. Rev. Brian Crocker will officiate and inurnment will be in the spring at Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church. The Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Christus Lutheran Church.
