Willie Mae Canup Todd McCoy Martin lived her entire life in and about Anderson County, SC. She was raised by her maternal grandmother, Sally Elizabeth "Sarah" Fain Gentry (buried at the Starr Baptist Church cemetery), after her mother Hester died of influenza in 1918 during the "Spanish" flu pandemic of 1918/1919 (along with Willie Mae's only sibling, sister Georgia Bell) when Willie Mae was just two years of age. She first married William Harold Todd and unto this union she bore two children. William unfortunately passed in 1949 after a long illness. She next held herself out to be married to one Charles H. "Bud" McCoy, and the city directories of Anderson from the late 1950's, her father's 1957 obituary, and the 1960's property records of her last home list her last name as having been McCoy. Her last husband was Bolt Day Martin who passed from this life in 1991. Willie Mae Martin was pre-deceased by her estranged son, T/Sgt Milton Harrison Todd, USAF (ret.). She was survived by her (now deceased) daughter Nancy (Todd) Mitchell (Gene), four grandchildren, Michael Wayne Todd, Esq.
