Virginia “Gence” Edney, 86, died Friday, April 2, 2010 at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in East Flat Rock on August 16, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Newton F. and Minnie Brown Edney. Miss Edney was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Flat Rock.
Gence was a very special person and was loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by a sister, Geraldine E. Staton, of Hendersonville; two brothers, Winfred Edney, of Marietta, SC, Clifford Edney and wife Virginia, of Flat Rock; a sister-in-law, Louise Edney, of Hendersonville and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30PM, Monday, April 5, 2010 at Shepherd Memorial Park with Rev. Jimmy Justice officiating.
