Rev. Ronnie Branson Hayes, 73, of Godwin died Sunday, February 16, 2014 at UNC Hospital. He was born August 4, 1940 in Cumberland County to the late Erfie David Hayes and late Daisy Bass Hayes House. He is also predeceased by half-brothers, Libert Windell Hayes, Erfie David Hayes, Jr. and Wiley Gilbert Hayes; half-sister, Elmetta Hayes White and stepfather, Berry House.

Rev. Hayes was in the United States Army for eight years. He retired from Coca Cola with 32 years of service. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church from May 1972-February 2014. Rev. Hayes became a minister on November 5, 1995 and pastored Smyrna Original Free Baptist Church for 9 years, then Pleasant Grove Original Free Will on Red Hill Church Road until present time.

He is survived by wife of 53 years, Frances Hayes; son, Michael Hayes and wife Margaret of Godwin; grandchildren Courtney and Branson Hayes; brothers: Ransom Hayes of Elizabethtown and Erfie Hayes and wife Vickie of Dunn; half-brothers: Rudolph Hayes, Bernice House and wife Ann of Autryville, George House and wife Nancy of Dunn and James House and wife Leslie of Waynesboro, Va.; half-sisters: Lousie House of Roseboro and Frances House Lee and husband Andy of Dunn; sister-in-laws: Virginia Hayes of Carthage, Agatha Hayes of Dunn and Evaline Matthews of Fayetteville.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 20, 2014, 2p.m., at Pleasant Grove OFWB Church with Minister Jamie Coats, Rev. Tom Wagoner and Rev. Jerome Pope officiating. Burial will follow in church Cemetery
