Dr. Mark A. Byrd known though out the Greenbrier Valley as a caring doctor and personal friend to many.

He was the son of Larry and Betty Lee Byrd of Jackson, MS.

Dr. Byrd received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi in 1993, completed his residency in 1996, and completed his pulmonary fellowship in 1998. He began his practice in Greenwood, MS and joined Greenbrier Physicians Clinic in Ronceverte, WV, in 2003.

He loved hiking, war history and collecting memorabilia, gun collecting, playing cards with his friends, motorcycles, movies, and grilling hamburgers. Dr. Byrd enjoyed his dog and cat and traveling. He was extremely generous and was a wonderful teacher to the health care community. He was an excellent physician. As medical director for the ICU, he respected and supported the nursing staff at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte.

He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lisa Frazier.

He is survived by a sister, Laurie Harrington of Brandon, MS.

In honor of Dr. Byrd's wishes, there was no visitation or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka KS 66675
