Arvid Pender King

Died Jan. 25 1996 Arvid Pender King 57 of De Kalb died Thursday at his home.

Mr. King was born Jan. 5, 1939, in Marshall, NC., a son of Sophia Rice King of Greeneville Tenn., and the late Chester King.

Mr. King was married to Sept. 29, 1979 to the former Carolyn Sue Forrest in De Kalb.

He was shift Supervisor for Ideal Industries in Sycamore for 17 years, and formerly employed at Spaulding Fiber in De Kalb for 16 years.Mr. King was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in De Kalb, a U.S. Army veteran, a past governor of the Sycamore Moose Lodge, a member of the De Kalb Elks Lodge #765, and a member of the De Kalb Park District Golf League.

Survivors in addition to his mother and wife include two daughters and sons-in-law: Dawn and Michael Lewis of Seabrook, Texas, Beth and Ron Harbecke of Stuttgart, Ark.; a son Mike King of De Kalb; a step-son : Jamie Poff of De Kalb; a step-daughter Jodi Mitchey of Beloit, Wis.; four brothers and four sister-in-law; Paul and Fern King, Eldridge and Jean King and Mrs. Shad King, all of Greeneville, Emerson King of Marshall, NC., and L.C. and Susie King of Weaverville, NC.; six sisters and five brothers-in-law: Catherine and Albert Haney of Gassaway, W.Va., Jerda McCarter of Marshall, NC., Alberta and Phil Jeffers of Greeneville, TN., Mary and Jackie Tullock of Raleigh, NC., Margaret and Keith Cole of Sevierville TN., and Patsy and John Jones of Wake Forest, NC., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother Shad King.

The family will receive friends from 2-6 and 7:30-9 p.m. today at Anderson Funeral Home in De Kalb.The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church with interment in Fairview Park Cemetery . The Rev. W. Michael Massey will officiate.
