BIRTH DATE NOTE: Original Baptismal Record, recorded at the month of birth, shows the correct birth year as 1897. The original Arlington headstone (inscribed "1898") was wrong. The Army has investigated the error, accepted documentation, replaced the headstone, and added the additional inscription "PURPLE HEART."
