Ronald Eugene Sweet, age 72 of Sevierville, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014. He was born September 18, 1941 in Damascus, VA and played football and baseball at Damascus High School in Damascus, where he graduated in 1959. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-1963 with an Honorable Discharge.

Ronald married Bonnie Lou on August 4, 1962 and they were happily married for over 50 years. He loved collecting pocket knives, reading the Bible, and listening to Oliver B. Greene preach on the radio. He actively sang in the choir at West View Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN, and was saved in April of 1973. Mr. Sweet worked for Pet Dairy of Kingsport, TN and also at the Gatlinburg Wastewater Treatment Plant. After a 3 ½ year battle with lung cancer, he has now entered into the gates of Heaven, resting peacefully.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Sweet.

Sweet of Sevierville, TN Grandchildren: Dayley Sweet and Destiny Sweet both of Knoxville, TN Great-grandchildren: Desiryah Sweet of Knoxville, TN and Caden Brunette of Sevierville, TN Brothers: Robert Sweet and wife Virgie of Abingdon, VA, and Tommy Sweet and wife Betty of Damascus, VA Sister: Connie Kinder and husband Sam of Broadford, VA Extended family: Hazel Caywood of Abingdon, VA Special friends: Scott McKee and Bob Ownby.
