David Abrahams, 82, of Boca Raton, FL formerly of Lancaster, died surrounded by his family at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy on Thursday, January 23, 2014. Born in Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late Bernard and Sarah Levine Abrahams and was married to Paula Shafransky Abrahams with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage.

He was a graduate of James Monroe High School and New York Community College and later joined the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War. David was the Food and Beverage Director at Host Farm and Eden Resort and in his retirement managed the Watt & Shand's Rendezvous Restaurant.

David was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Congregation Shaarai Shomayim and the Brotherhood of the temple and an active volunteer of the Horizon Social Club in Florida. He gave charitable contributions to many food banks and enjoyed traveling which included many cruises.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Robin wife of Howard Stieff and Shari Abrahams both of Lancaster, PA, four grandchildren: Jonathan and Lauren Stieff, Sarah Deibler and Derik husband of Jen Deibler, three great grandchildren: Cameryn, Alli, and Kara and a niece, Sarah Mauro.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend David's Funeral Service on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Congregation Shaarai Shomayim, 75 E. James Street, Lancaster with Rabbi Jack Paskoff officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Shaarai Shomayim Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions in David's name may be made to Congregation Shaarai Shomayim - Tikkun Olam, 75 E. James Street, Lancaster, PA 17602 or to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research, 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY 10065.
