Jerry Lee Watson, 80, of Friends Homes at Guilford, died of cancer on Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at Moses Cone Hospital.

Funeral service for Mr. Watson will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel with Dr. Pat Cronin officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Watson was born March 15, 1924, in Chesterfield County, S.C., to John B. and Louise Gaskin Watson. He was a graduate of Greensboro Senior High and Guilford College. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Jerry married Jean Morgan in 1950. He was a deacon and choir member at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church and earlier at College Park Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing golf, bridge and singing in the church choirs and Senior Ambassadors Chorus. Jerry was predeceased by his parents and by Krista Jean Watson, a much loved granddaughter, who died at age 18 on May 24, 2003.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Richard N. Watson of Greensboro and David M. Watson and wife Pam of Murphy; brother Robert N. Watson and wife Barbara of Charlotte; and special family members, Troy and Eleanor Morgan Gibson.
