Rites Are Arranged For Lee Newton. Jr.


Funeral for Lee Gaither Newton. Jr., 32. of Banner Avenue. who died at 6 30 a. m. yesterday at his home, will be held at 4 p. in_ today at Forbis and Murray Chapel. He had been in ill health for 10 months.

Rev. J. L. Neese. pastor of Palm Street Christian Church; Rev. M A. Pullard. former pastor: and Rev. S. L. Riddle, pastor of Revolution Baptist Church. will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The body will remain at Forbis and Murray Funeral Home until the hour of service.


Born in Hickory, Newton was a resident here for 29 years. He was a member of Palm Street Christian Church. He was a brakeman on the Southern Railway and a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.


He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Ferree, his mother. Mrs. L. G. Newton, Sr.; one son. Joel Lane Newton; one daughter. Miss Diana Gayle Newton. all of the home; two brothers, Clyde F and Wade C. Newton. both of Greensboro; and four sisters. Mrs. Kermit Ritter. and Misses Marjorie. Barbara and Eleanor Newton all of Greensboro.
