A native of Caswell County, Neal moved to Greensboro in 1900. He worked with the postal department from 1904 until 1945.
He is survived by his wife, the former Bertie Lewis; one daughter, Cornelia Prince ; two sons, William T. Neal of Greensboro and Charles L. Neal of Suffolk, Virginia; two sisters, Mrs. A. D. Holderby of Norfolk, Virginia and Mrs. J.L. Saunders of Reidsville; three brothers, John D. Neal of Ruffin, W.L. and E.L. Neal of Danville, Virginia; and six grandchildren: Tom, Connie, Chuck, Peter, Diana and Sandra.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Hanes Chapel with the Rev. Brunson Wallace, pastor of the College Place Methodist Church, and Elder W. Curry King, pastor of the Tate Street Primitive Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The body will remain at the funeral home until the hour of the service.
