Frank J. Adams, 85, of New Bloomfield, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill.
He was born Jan. 31, 1921, in Pottsville, and was a son of the late Frank A. and Elsie Mae (Alspach) Michel Adams.
He was a 1940 graduate of the Perry-Joint High School and attended the Thompson Institute in Harrisburg.
Frank was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from AmTrak in Harrisburg after many years of service with the Pennsylvania Railroad.
He was a member of the New Bloomfield United Methodist Church, a charter and life member of the New Bloomfield VFW Post No. 7463, a member of American Legion Post No. 340 in Duncannon, The Perry Historians, United Transportation Union Local No. 816 for more than 50 years, the New Bloomfield Fire Co. and the Railroad Retirees Club.
Frank also enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Doris (Stone) Adams; a daughter, Jane A. Livingston and her husband, Larry Jr. of Carlisle; a brother, Raymond A. Adams of New Bloomfield; a sister, Mary Jane Kuehn of Parma, Ohio; two grandchildren, Scott and Amanda Livingston; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Livingston and a step brother, Karl Michel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, in New Bloomfield United Methodist Church, 100 W. Main St., New Bloomfield, with the Rev. Robert O. Rice Jr. officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the New Bloomfield VFW will be held in the New Bloomfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, at the church.
Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorial contributions can be made to his church or to the New Bloomfield V.F.W. Post No. 7463, 71 Soule Road, New Bloomfield, PA 17068.
