Myrtle Estelle (Turner) Croft, known to her loving family as Aunt Mauie, died New Year's Day, 2014, just after celebrating her 101st Christmas. She was born February 11, 1913, one of three daughters, to John A. and Myrtle F. Turner, in Jacksonville, where she lived her life, except for the many travels with her beloved husband, Jack Croft, who predeceased her.

Aunt Mauie was a woman of incredible strength and spirit. She overcame illness and adversity in her life with elegance, drive and determination, and refused to let events change her positive outlook, which she imparted to those surrounding her, especially her great-nieces and -nephew. She celebrated her 100th birthday at a party for many friends and family in February, 2013, and after three hours of toasts and celebration, wanted to know why the party had to end so soon.

Aunt Mauie is survived by her niece, Mary Louise (George) Cratem; her great-nieces Susan (Brian) Killoran and Stephanie (Mark) Spiegel; her great-nephew George (Susan) Cratem and their children, Jennifer, Reyad and Seamus; her great-nephews Chip Farson and Tony Farson, and families; and her daughters, Jean C. Burns (deceased), Jackie C. Pitts and Tanya C. (Rodney) Tillman and 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from five o clock until seven o clock in the evening at Hardage-Giddend, HENDRICKS CHAPEL, 4115 Hendricks Avenue on Monday, January 6, 2014. Graveside funeral services will be held at two o clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 in Oaklawn Cemetery.
