Kills Insane Patient-Captain of Marion Police shoots John Votaw, age Sixty. - Marion, IN, 4 Jun- John Votaw, 60 years old, an insane p patient was shot and killed by James Thompson, captain of the Marion police near Rigdon, today. Thompson says Votaw drew a revolver and attempted to shoot him, and that he shot to save his live. Vitaw was being taken in an automobile to the Central Hospital for the insane, at Indianapolis, when the shooting occurred. He was in charge of Captain Thompson, who was accompanied by George M Coon, prosecuting attorney of Grant Co., and William Small, owner of the automobile, in which they were making the trip.
