Lois Robinson Hicks, 82, Glencoe, went to Heaven Oct. 29, 2008. The Revs. Philip Elliott, Van Lockridge, Barry Benefield and Hoyt Gilbert will officiate. Burial will be at Tenbroeck Cemetery, DeKalb County. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.

Lois was born in DeKalb County on March 21, 1926, to James Oscar and Ella Mae (Lamunyon) Pope. She was educated in DeKalb County schools. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Lois lived in Etowah County most of her life, but never forgot her roots in the Tenbroeck community she dearly loved. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, canning, caring for her family and friends and being a grandmother. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend with a generous, compassionate spirit and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was an active member of Glencoe First Baptist Church until her illness of metastatic breast cancer limited her activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Amsie Smith Pope; brothers, Wilburn, Wilson and Bobby Pope, Ray and Lamar Smith; sisters, Marie Isbell, Mable Trussell, Elouise Pope, Ahnett Blackwell and Martha Nell Shankles; son-in-law, Jimmy McClendon; and husbands, Bud Stephenson, Robert B. Robinson Jr., the father of her children, Jack Spurgeon and Grover A. Hicks Jr.

Lois is survived by daughters, Rebecca (Bob) Dellinger, Kay McClendon and Jennifer (Bob) Castiglione; grandchildren, Bobby Dellinger, Christine Payne, Steve McClendon, Elizabeth Jackson, Pam Castiglione and Joy Lynn Castiglione; brother, Jim (Nancy) Pope; sisters, Mirl Murphy, Jimmie Lee Oliver and Earlene Bailey; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
