SHREVEPORT, LA—Graveside services celebrating the life of Martha Josephine Bush Chandler will take place at 1:00 PM on December 23, 2013 at Forest Park on St. Vincent Avenue in Shreveport. Officiating will be Reverend Clarence Chism. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:30 the morning of the service.
Jo went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2013. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on April 16, 1929, the first child of Bryan Edward Bush, Sr. and Sallie Mat Clingman Bush. She was preceded in death by her siblings Doris Eoline Bush King, Bryan Edward Bush, Jr. and Authur Clingman Bush.
Jo was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to John D. Chandler Jr.; Nan C. Broughton and Ed and Susie Chandler; Delaney and Mary Chandler (Levi); Don and Allison Chandler (Maya and Violet); Caleb and Claire Chandler (Finley); Daniel and Sara B. Van Hauen, Virginia and Lee Ashford Broughton. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Judy Talman Bush as well as nieces, nephews and first cousins.
Jo graduated from Byrd High School and LSU. At LSU she was Vice President of the Student Body and a member of Chi Omega sorority. She received a JD form Tulane Law School in 1952. Jo had a zest for life and a deep love of people. Her passions were her family, helping the down-trodden and travel. She never met a stranger and will be missed by all who knew her.
The family gratefully acknowledges the staff of Montclair Park Memory Care Unit for their loving care of "Miz Jo" as she was affectionately known.
