Enlisted 27 April 1862, mustered in 30 May 1863, 25th North Carolina Infantry, killed 30 July 1864 at about 20 years old.

Family lore had him killed at Gettysburg per William Mont Black who was Son of Mary Elizabeth Garrison Black (his niece dau of William J. Mitchell Garrison. Enlisted in CSA 25th NC per family history. Great example of how family lore can become inaccurate.
