From the "State of Maine Report of the Attorney General for the two years ending November, 30, 1908" published by Sentinel Publishing Company, Waterville, 1909, pages 8-10:

State vs. Guy Tardis

"On Tuesday, September 17, 1907, at Limestone, Aroostook County, Guy Tardis, seventeen years old, shot and killed two boys, Oscar Downing and Stephen Downing, brothers, both of Limestone. The shooting was done with a Winchester rifle and at close range."

The article goes on to recite details of an argument during a hunting trip.

Tardis was eventually indicted, pled guilty and was sentenced to seven years in the State Prison in Thomaston on April 16, 1908.
