Mrs. Garner died September 6. She was formerly of Birmingham and was preceded in death by her husband, Tom C. Garner; parents, Henry Ithiel and Helen Stanley; brother, Henry T. Stanley; and sisters, Sarah Lee Appleton and Elizabeth Pelham.
She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery and graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University where she was a member of Kappa Delata sorority and Mortar Board Academic Honorary.
She was a member of Pell City First United Methodist Church, serving on the finance committee and the administrative board. She was a member of the Varona Perry Sunday School Class and The Club. She was an accomplished bridge player and was a member of the Tuesday Bridge Club of Birmingham for almost 50 years.
She is survived by two daughters, son-in-law, granddaughter, sister, brother-in-law, two nieces, and three nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Varona Perry Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pell City First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2200 3rd Avenue North, Pell City, AL, 35125 or to Lakeside Hospice, P.O. Box 544, Pell City, AL, 35125.
Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.
