Mrs. Buie was retired from Western Electric where she worked as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of WinstonSalem on Fifth Street since 1926. She was last surviving member of the sewing club she belonged to for many years. For many years, she made home made pull mints for most of the social events at the church. Though she did not drive, she went with others for 28 years to deliver Meals on Wheels, and visited homebound folks.
Mrs. Buie married William Monroe Buie in 1926. Mr. Buie died in 1941.
Surviving Mrs. Buie are her daughter, Sarah B. Coffey and her husband, Reverend Dr. Jack Coffey of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Jack "Chip" Coffey Jr. of Roswell, GA, and Cathy C. Bolen of Gaithersburg, MD; four great-grandchildren, Beth and Lee Coffey, Rachel and Will Bolen.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2008 in the chapel of Brown-Wynne Funeral home on Millbrook Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private interment services will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Greensboro.
