Frank W. Bescher, 65, of Clear Lake, formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, October 2, 2005, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, of cancer.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 4, and one hour before services Wednesday, at the church.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 5, at Clear Lake United Methodist Church. Frank has donated his body to the University of Iowa Anatomical Donor Program. Inurnment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, Iowa, at a later date. Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, are in charge of arrangements.

Frank William Bescher was born April 16, 1940, in Dubuque, the son of Frank and Mary (Lahrman) Bescher. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1958, and from Humboldt Institute in Minneapolis. He married Jill Loehndorf and they were later divorced. He married Susan Wells Mehlin on July 21, 1979, in Waterloo.

He was employed with Briggs Trucking firm as terminal manager in Chicago, Des Moines and Waterloo. He then worked for Waterloo Industries as director of materials, retiring in 2002. Following retirement he worked as a consultant for Ditzfeld Transfer, Sedalia, Missouri. He was past chairman of Waterloo Metropolitan Bus Board of Directors for many years, First United Methodist Church Trustees and of Bell Harbor Home Owners Association, Clear Lake.

Survivors include, his wife, Susan; one son, Dane (Janet) Bescher of Mechanicsville; two daughters, Ruth (Jerry) Christiansen of LeMars and Wendy (Michael) Perez of San Fernando, CA; seven grandchildren; and three step-daughters, Elin (Perry) Hersleff of Forest City, Sara (Kevin) McCary of Wayzata, MN, and Emily Mehlin of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Joan Wallis and an infant grandson.
