Memorial services for Charles D. Doriocourt, Jr., age 80, of Edge TX will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 15 at St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church in Franklin TX . Reverend Melvin Dornak will officiate. A rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the church.
Charles was born in Houston, Texas on December 14, 1924 and had lived in the Edge community for the past 23 years. He had dedicated his life to public service. He had taught school in districts in both Texas and Louisiana. He later retired from the Louisiana Labor Department as an Employment Counselor. Mr. Doriocourt served his country in both WWII and the Vietnam Conflict serving in the United States Army. During WWII he served in the European Theater as an Intelligence Analyst.
Charles is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Luis and Alice Jean Doriocourt of Edge; brother, Dick and Evelyn Doriocourt of Brazos County; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeannette and Andy Scardino of The Woodlands, and Gloria and Sandy Mitchell of New Port Richey, Florida; four grandchildren, Kenneth Reeves, David and his wife Janet Reeves, Steven Doriocourt, Kevin and his wife Jon'el Doriocourt; eight great-grandchildren; 12 nieces and nephews. Charles was also preceded in death by his wife Niles Glossinger.
In Lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
Enlisted US Army 14 December 1942 in Houston, Harris County, Texas. He was single with no dependents.
