Mrs. Annie Mae Sammons- Vidalia, GA -- (Friday, November 22nd, 2013) --- Mrs. Annie Mae Sammons, age 96, of Vidalia, died Thursday, November 21, 2013 in the Bethany Nursing Center after an extended illness. She was a native of Treutlen County and grew up there. In 1940, she met her late husband, Sam Sammons and has lived in Toombs County most of her life. She worked at Oxford Industries in Vidalia for many years and retired from the former Bailey's Department Store in Vidalia. She was a member of the Tabernacle Church for sixty-seven years and was a member of the Busy Bee Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents, Twiggs Willis and Vennie Bell Tapley Willis. Mrs. Sammons is survived by four children, Carolyn Sammons Oliver of the Charlotte Community, Betty Sammons Dees and husband Wayne of the New Branch Community, Glenda Sammons Mosley and husband Glenn of the Cedar Crossing Community, and Ricky H. Sammons and wife Janice of the New Branch Community; two sisters-in-law, Nina O'Keefe of Deland, Florida and Mae Sammons of Bartow, Florida; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 23rd at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Gene Helton and Reverend Bobby Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
