Wilbur C. Ott, Sr, 87 of Cope, S.C. died Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Providence Hospital in Columbia.
The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service
Funeral Service will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, November 24, 2013 At Canaan Baptist Church, 4977 Cannon Bridge Road, Cope, S.C. Rev. Odell Breland and Rev. Alan Woodward Directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg

Mr. Ott was born October 18, 1926 in the Canaan Community, Cope; a son of the late Julius Harvey Ott and the late Minnie Hungerpillar Ott. He was a member (who joined at an early age) of Canaan Baptist Church in Canaan Community, Cope. He served on many committees' and was a Deacon. He served in the U. S. Army, a World War II Veteran stationed in Germany. He was employed with West End Dairy of Charleston for many years and retired from Coca- Cola Bottling Co. He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters. He didn't meet a stranger and enjoyed camping with his family and friends.
SURVIVORS He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia Strock Ott of Canaan Community, Cope; 4 children, Wayne (Sonja) Ott of Canaan Community, Cope, Cheryl (Gary) Schurlknight of Cordova, Terry (Roberta) Ott of Cordova and Billy Ott of Canaan Community, Cope; one sister; Mary Ott Proctor of Canaan Community, Cope; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews and cousin
