IRVINGTON - Hunter Von Eppihimer, 14, of Irvington died Thuraday, January 30, 2003 at Temple University/Shriners Medical Center in Philadelphia following a long battle with muscular dystrophy and complicating resulting from a heart attack during surgery.

He was an "A" honor roll student at Lancaster High School. He was a manager and water boy for the LHS Red Devils football team and a member of Irvington Baptist Church youth club and choir.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather; Dana and Franklin Rowe of Irvington, his father and stepmother; David and Lisa Eppihimer of Wicomico Church; a sister, Holly Ann Eppihimer; two half brothers, Perrin Nicolson and Ethan Eppihimer; one half sister, Savanah Eppihimer; stepsiblings, Lee, Brooke and Michelle Rowe and Crystal Sheffield; maternal grandparents, Billie Collins of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Cade Hendrix of Phenix, AL; a maternal great grandmother Lester Mae-Ray of Tuscaloosa AL; paternal grandparents, Harry and Janet Tayloe of White Stone and David Wayne Eppihimer Sr. of Tampa FL; paternal great-grandmothers, Mary Tayloe of White Stone, and Peggy Hayden of Tampa, FL; step-grandparents, Virginia and James Ashburn of Weems, Paige and Lawrence Rowe of Kilmarnock, Eugene West and Patricia Gaines, both of Weems; a step-grandmother, Nola Jones of Weems, six aunts, eight uncles and 17 cousins.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 4, at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock followed by graveside services and a reception at Irvington Baptist Church. Rev. Jon Farmer officiated. Pallbearers were, Jason Lee Rice, Jerry Lattell, Donald Benson, Chris Leggert, Robert Headerly; Tra Sowers and Dr. Ed Blake. Honorary pallbearers were the entire Lancaster High School varsity and junior varsity football teams.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributionsmay be made to Hunters Helping Hand Fund C/O Irvington Baptist Church Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 417, Irgington, VA. 22480. The fund will be used to help local handicap children with their inclusion in school settings and sports.
