Francis "Frank" B. Register, Jr.
LEXINGTON – Frank B. Register, Jr., 78, was born on December 1, 1934 and died on Monday, November 18, 2013. He was the son of Vivian and Frank B. Register, Sr. Frank was a graduate of the University of South Carolina in 1962 and received his Juris Doctorate from the USC School of Law in 1970. He was an attorney and practiced family law in Lexington County for 42 years. He served in the United States Navy and was the youngest first quartermaster at the time of his four year service. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lexington. Frank was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and boating on Lake Murray. He also enjoyed aviation and piloted his own small plane. He was a founding member and President of the Pine Lakes Sertoma Club.
Surviving family members include his wife of 56 years, Louise Poston Register; daughter, Melissa Register Porth and husband, Calvin Porth of Lexington; son, William Stuart Register and wife, Lisa Register of Chapin; grandchildren, Laura Porth Dukes and husband, Wayne Howard Dukes, Jr. of Reevesville, David Carl Porth of Lexington and William Tyler Register of Chapin and great-granddaughter, Emma Cate Dukes. The family would like to thank caregivers, Kim Gunter and Mary McPhail for their loving care of Frank.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1130 St. Peter's Road, Lexington, SC 29072.
