115 Squadron’s Vickers Wellington (#D9826) aircraft with an aircrew of six, which had taken flight from RAF Marham in Norfolk on an air operation over Mannheim, Germany, was shot down by a German fighter aircraft and crashed near Martlesham Heath in Suffolk, taking the lives of the entire crew.
The airmen who perished in that crash were-

RCAF Flight Sergeant John William BOYCE,
RAFVR Sergeant Francis James McGAW,
RAF Flight Sergeant Alfred FORSE,
RAFVR Sergeant Wilfred John COWELL and
