Verlon William Jones, 78, of Whittier, died Monday, November 11, 2013. A native of Swain County, Verlon retired from Beacon Manufacturing as a security guard. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Samp Jones and Myrtle Gunter Jones, one daughter Sheila Loretta Jones, and one son, Mike Harold Jones.
Verlon is survived by a daughter, Roberta Hoke of Whittier, one son, Ricky Jones of Whittier, one brother, Ruel Jones of Georgia, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Bumgarner Cemetery in Whittier.
