Early Morning Cycle Accident
Fatal to Former Lewisburg Man

The body of a 27-year-old former Lewisburg resident was found along Bellefontaine Rd. around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, nearly five hours after his motorcycle crashed in northeastern Wayne Twp., in Montgomery county.

The body of Benjamin Deisher of 6567 Highbury Rd., was discovered by a Wayne Twp. highway department crew on its way to cut grass.

Deisher's motorcycle is believed to have run off Bellefontaine Rd., between Shull and Artz roads, about 4:30 a.m.

The body was about 18 feet off the roadway in a gully and hard to see from the highway, according to Wayne Twp., patrolman Paul J. Hileman.

The patrolman said the accident occurred in a stretch of highway that has a series of sharp curves. Residents of the area reported there have been many accidents in that section in recent years, some of them fatal.

Deisher was southbound on Bellefontaine Rd. on his motorcycle when the cycle went off the east side of the highway, traveling more than 70 feet along a fence and hit a tree, said Hileman. Deisher died immediately.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela; three daughters, Melissa, Carla and Leona; his mother, Mrs. Lola Deisher of Brookville; five sisters, Mrs. Robert (Gail) Maddox of Dayton, Mrs. Ronnie (Jean) Reichard of Athens, Mrs. Ronald (Ruth) Riege of West Alexandria, Mrs. Jack (Beth) Kirtland of Baltimore, Md., and Miss Lois Deisher of Dayton; six brothers, Keith, Kenneth, Roland and Jack, all of Brookville, Jerry and Phillip of Lewisburg.

Funeral service was held Saturday at Kramer and Moeller funeral home in Lewisburg with Rev. Rodney Vernon officiating. Interment was in Roselawn cemetery.

He was a 1964 graduate of Lewisburg high school.
