Margaret "Joyce" Taylor Roland, age 64, of Marion, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at St. Joseph's Campus – Mission Hospital in Asheville. Joyce was born in Kingsport, TN on April 2, 1949 and was a daughter of the late Vernon "Hugh" Taylor and Lottie Hughes Franklin. She attended Praise Assembly and was an active employee with Baxter Healthcare for 20 years. Joyce will be remembered as a loving person who was an endless giver and never wanted anything in return. She was a great person to talk to and a great listener. Her grandchildren were very dear to her and "Mamaw" loved them very much. Preceding Joyce in death was her first husband, Frank Roland who passed away in 1982 and her second husband, Dallas Roper, Jr., who passed away in 2008.
Saddened by the loss of Joyce are three children: Frank Roland and wife Krystal of Marion, Karen Roland Thompson and husband Kenny of Marion and Kevin Roper of the home; one brother, Lucky Hunley of Hickory; one sister, Rose Davis of Marion and five grandchildren: Josh Thompson, Erica Roland, Jacob Pope, Nathan White, and Lane Roland.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 3:00 pm in Westmoreland Chapel with Rev. Kevin Crawford officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home. Interment will be in McDowell Memorial Park.
