CALLAWAY, JR., JAMES MONROE 93, died Friday, March 9, 2012. He was born April 17, 1918. His parents were James Monroe Callaway, Sr. and Fannie Folmer Callaway. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife June Brice Callaway (September 11, 1999). He is survived by his children James Brice Callaway (Melanie) and Carol Callaway Lord (Steve), grandson James Lord (Zana), great-grand daughters Emma and Molly, grandson Michael Lord (Ashley) and sister, Barbara Callaway Morgan (Pete). He was a proud graduate of Auburn University (1940) where he was in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps and student manager on the football team. He served his country in World War II in the Pacific as a field artillery officer in the 37th Infantry Division. Discharged as a Major, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. A loyal member of East Lake Methodist Church he lived his faith and treated everyone he met with love, charity and respect. A private family funeral will be held and later, when his "sweet little girl" Carol has recovered from her recent injuries and can participate, a life celebration memorial service will be scheduled.
