Cheryl L. Kempf 56, of Decatur, passed away on Friday September 6, 2013 at her residence. She was born on October 25, 1956 to Ronald R. and Phyllis M. (Moser) Black in Adams County. On August 1, 2000 she married Mark A. Kempf.

Cheryl was a babysitter for fourteen years, an archivist for DRG House of White Birch's, and worked for the Decatur Daily Democrat. She was involved in many volunteer positions, Candy Striper at Adams Memorial, a Brownie Leader, and was an area representative for foreign exchange students, and was a member of the D.A.R.

She is survived by her husband Mark Kempf of Decatur, her mother Phyllis M. Black of Decatur, two sons Christopher P. (Cheryl) Black of Decatur, Justin A. (Sumia) Barr of Lund, Sweden; a step son Jeremy T. (Ellie) Selders of Waterville, OH.; one daughter Rachael M. (Moise) Barr of Lawrenceville, GA.; one step daughter Margaret "Micki" Matters of Hermatige, PA.; one brother Ronald Richard (Myke) Black II of Monroe, IN.; three sisters Terri S. (Billy) Ousley of Morton, IL., Tonya J. (Thomas) Beavers of Decatur, IN., and Sara J. (Bill) Busch of Fort Wayne, IN., and 14 grandchildren Hailey, Paige, Isak, Isabella, Kadin, Cameron, Hunter, Dylan, Brooke, Kaylee, Ashley, Wally Jr., Seth, and soon to be born baby boy.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 11, 2013 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Haggard Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home. Funeral services will also be at the funeral home on Thursday September 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Gary Johnson will be officiating.

Burial will be held at the Decatur Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
