Taylor Reese Abney, age 93, from Mt. Sterling, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017, at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.
Born May 24, 1924, in Irvine, he was a son of the late Curtis Gentry Abney and Lula Dunaway Abney.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Charlie, James, and Curtis Abney; two sisters, Helen Houghton and Emma Frances Long; and his wife of 68 years, Florence Durbin Abney, who passed away June 22, 2010.
He is survived by one son, Taylor C. “Corky” Abney and his wife Barbara of Mt. Sterling.
Mr. Abney was a U.S. Army veteran, a former employee of Wal-Mart and Winchester Farms Dairy and retired from B & O Railroad. He was a member of Jeffersonville Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at the Jeffersonville Baptist Church with Steve Creech and Glennis Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in the Lovely Cemetery with full military honors presented by Mt. Sterling American Legion Post 22.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Knox, Earl Peyton, Joe Peyton, Roy Trimble, John Houghton, and Barnes Compton.
Visitation is from noon until the funeral at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at the Jeffersonville Baptist Church, 145 State Highway 559, Jeffersonville, Kentucky.
