Lyle J. Gruemmer Resident of Walnut Creek Lyle J. Gruemmer, 81 died in his home in Walnut Creek, CA on Sept 7th 2009. He was born on Sept 26th 1927 in Wilton- Junction, Iowa. Moved to Castro Valley CA in 1947 while serving in the U.S. Navy and raised his family till 1974. He was born to Clarence L. and Mary E. Gruemmer of Wilton-Junction, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers: Henry and Fred; his sisters: Violet Fletcher, Florence Roberts, and Lois Tangen. He married Ruby M. Simpson in 1947 until her death in 1972 of cancer. He married Isobel W. Stafford, a widow, in 1974 until her death in 2007 of cancer. They lived in Walnut Creek, CA for 32 years. He is survived by his seven children; 9 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was self employed for all his career, first as a butcher and grocery store owner at Dutton Food Center in San Leandro, CA until 1974. Retired as a Distributor from Interstate Battery Systems of the Bay Area. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Wednesday Sept 16th at 2:00pm at Jess C. Mortuary at 21228 Redwood Road Castro Valley, CA (510) 581-9133. Donations may be sent to Hospice of the East Bay.
