U.S. Congressman. Moving to Wooster, Ohio in 1812, he engaged in mercantile pursuits, was justice of the peace in 1815 and commissioner for Wayne County in 1818. He was a member of the Ohio State House of Representatives (1821-22), and a member of the Ohio State Senate (1829-32). In 1833, he was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth Congresses, serving until 1837. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his previous business interests until his death.
