Richard Wilfred Bragg (1967-)

From Obituary:

Richard Harry Bragg, 64, of Sumner, died at home on February 1, 2007.

He was born August 16, 1942, the son of Tom and Iva Bragg. Richard attended one-room schools in Sumner and attended Buckfield High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a truck driver in Germany.

Richard owned and operated his own pulp trucks, was a self-employed carpenter and painted for years. He built two houses for himself and two camps and many homes for others.

Richard worked on barges laying oil pipelines in the Gulf of Mexico, the Algiers and Africa. He also worked cutting wood in the winter and operating heavy equipment and rock crushers until his retirement.

He loved bluegrass music and mining for gemstones in his mine in Hartford. He was a member of the NRA, American Legion Post 58 of Buckfield and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Richard really enjoyed a few beers and sitting around with his buddies spinning a good yarn.

Richard was his own man, never tried to impress anyone, and was never impressed by anyone else. He enjoyed hunting, especially for rabbits with beagles.

Richard is survived by two sons, Ricky Bragg and Israel Bragg; one daughter, Dolsie Bragg; four grandsons; one granddaughter; step-grandchildren; two ex-wives, Janine Veilleux Bragg and Edith Gordon Bragg; parents, Iva and Tom Bragg; sisters, Rosemary, Helen, Violet, Marie and Jenny; brothers, David, Frank and Chris; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by five siblings, Eddie, Tommy, James, Beryl and Joyce.
