On October 12, 2013, Bobby passed away. He was born February 7, 1928 in Middleton, TN to Arch and Lyndall Jones. Bobby was one of seven children. He joined the Army and served in the 88th Military Police Company at Governor's Island, NY. On February 6, 1948 he married Gladys Buchanan Jones and they raised three daughters: Brenda, Linda, and Deborah. Bobby worked for Frisco and Burlington Northern Railroads as a general car foreman and retired in 1984. During his life, he built (and rebuilt) houses, additions, and garages. Bobby and Gladys enjoyed traveling, fishing, flea markets, gardening and grandkids. He loved to joke, tell tall tales, and tease at kids and pets. Both attended Ridgecrest Baptist Church as long as their health permitted.
Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Gladys; siblings, Clara Lilley, Julian, Thelma, Willard, Gene and David; and son-in-law Stephen Bernier. Surviving family members include daughters Brenda (Paul) Hansen, Linda Bouchard, and Deborah (Kenny) Hendricks; grandchildren, Jennifer Finley, Ryan (Erica) Bouchard, Dustin (Evita) Bouchard, Jessica (Kenneth) Davis, and Kale Souders, as well as, several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Emily, Hannah, Hailey, Sophia, Nolan, Malinda, Liam, Rowan and Tatum.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 11:00a.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with services following at 11:30a.m. Burial will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Regional Hospice, 1328 E. Evergreen, Springfield, MO 65803. The family wants to thank Westside Healthcare and Regional Hospice for the loving care they provided both Bobby and Gladys. -
