Eldon Abbott was born July 3, 1936 in the Cooper community, the son of the late Edd and Mossie Fairchild Abbott. He departed this life Thursday evening at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center in Somerset.
On December 27, 1955 he united in marriage with Barbara Faye Corder Abbott who survives. To this 57 year union four children survive: Sherry and her husband Stuart Simpson, Kristi and husband Warren Childers, Kevin and Patrick Abbott.
Also surviving is his grandson: Matthew Price and four great grandchildren: Travis, Trent, Madison and Tristan; his brother: Lester Bravel and his wife Fay Abbott and their three children along with numerous cousins and friends.
Upon graduating from high school he joined the Navy and served aboard the USS Oriskany. He received his Bachelor's degree from Eastern Kentucky University and a Master's Degree of Social Work from Florida State University. He retired from Adanta in 1993 after spending many years helping others. He enjoyed reading and was an avid UK Basketball fan. He touched the lives of many and will be sorely missed.
