A memorial service will be held at St Luke Lutheran Church at 1:30 Friday Nov 3, 2006. A private burial service will be in Hewitt Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
Mr Hewitt was born in Florence a son of the late Roland T. Sr, and Nell Morris Hewitt. He was a graduate of Florence High School and Clemson University, where he was a member of Senior Platoon. He served in the Korean War as a 1st Lieutenant in the Air Force stationed in Southhampton, England, where he served as a Port Commander.
He farmed in the Peniel Community and retired from the Dept of Agriculture as a County Supervisor. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and a member of American Legion Post # 47, Timmonsville.
Surviving is his wife of 54 years Joyce Richardson Hewitt, of Timmonsville, formerly of Southhampton, England, two sons, Tommy (Lois) Hewitt, Timmonsville, Harry (Tammy) Hewitt, Mt. Pleasant; two daughters, Claire (Ivan) Hobbs, Simpsonville, Beth (Kirk) Edmonds, Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, John (Marsha) Hewitt, St. Charles, Jerry (Vicki) Hewitt, Florence; one sister, Margaret (Price)Hoffmeyer, Florence and grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris)Peebles, Ashley (Preston) Dawkins, Todd Hewitt, Jamie Hewitt, Emily Hobbs, Heather Edmonds, Logan Hewitt, Mary-Margaret Hewitt, Andrew Hobbs and Will Hewitt; three great grandchildren, Claire and Margaret Peebles and AraBella Dawkins and special caregivers.
The family will receive visitors at the home, 3108 Peniel Rd after 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
