Judge. Born in Watertown, Connecticut in August, 1795. He was a man of many hats, a Lawyer; a Spencer County Sheriff, 1826 to 1830. Judge Pitcher was a member of Indiana state house of representatives, 1830 to 1831, and a candidate for U.S. Representative from Indiana, 1837. He was a member of Indiana state senate, 1841 to 1844. He was a candidate for Presidential Elector for Indiana, 1848; candidate for delegate to Indiana state constitutional convention, 1850. Episcopalian.. A member of Freemasons. Reputed to have loaned law books to the young Abraham Lincoln. Judge Pitcher is the father of General Thomas Gamble Pitcher. He died in August 1892 at the age of 96. Interment at Hedges Central Elementary School Playground.
