Funeral services for Frances Elizabeth Wheeler Farrar, age 92 of the Flat Creek Community, will be at 3:00 pm Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Lloyd Doyle & Rev. Mark Ashley officiating.

Burial will follow in the Rosebank Cemetery. Mrs. Farrar passed from this life Saturday evening, October 5, 2013 at the Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville.

Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at Doak-Howell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Farrar was the daughter of the late Benton McMillin & Arlene Raby McMillin. Before her marriage to Joe Farrar, Mrs. Farrar worked as a legal secretary for the Federal Courts in Greenville, Tenn. & Winchester, Tenn., later became the City Recorder for the City of Shelbyville, worked as legal secretary for Jim Burns Law Office.

After her retirement she owned and operated the Knit Kit on the public square and then later at the Merchant's Walk on North Main St. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Pi Sorority, the Shelbyville Womens Club and a long time member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years Joseph Thurston Farrar of Flat Creek, daughter Annice Whitt Coop of Shelbyville, brother Benton McMillin Wheeler of Birmingham, AL, grandsons, Thomas Gary Coop of Flat Creek, Joseph Jeremy Coop of Shelbyville and great-grandson Weston Thomas Coop of Flat Creek.

Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
