The following notes are by Mr. Overmyer, the original creator of this memorial:

First son of Henry Guinn Overmyer. Several of Homer's Uncle's served in the Civil War. Homer moved up to Akron, Michigan and was a Deputy Sheriff. He also built many barns in the "Thumb" area of Michigan (Tuscola Co. Vassar & Frankenmeuth) and played guitar and violin in a band. He used to say "The only thing better than biscuits and honey was more biscuits and honey." He married Catherine Einwachter who had survived the Thumb Area Fire of 1881: Children were: Margaret, Nina Marie, Alfred, Robert (Killed at age 12 by a train), Leonard (WWI Vet), Olive, Virgie Cora, Elta Vera (died of Whooping Cough), Dorothy, and Francis Raymond (died as infant in 1910 of Whooping Cough). In his last years, after he suffered a stroke, his grandson, Bruce, used to help him shave.
