Art "Shorty" Holt, 83, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at his home.

A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, under the direction of Abilene Funeral Home.

Mr. Holt was born September 5, 1930 in Charleston, West Virginia to Paul and Carrie Holt.

He was proud to serve his country and enlisted into the US Navy at an early age. He enlisted into the US Air Force after the Navy and retired from service in 1971.

He continued his service to the community as an employee of The City of Abilene from which he retired from in 1992.

He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Survivors include his life partner of 27 years, Nan Reeves; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Jake and Barbara Holt and Steven and Dina Holt; ten grandchildren, Austin Holt, Ryan Holt, Katie Holt, Collin Holt, Dale Bilbrey, Jennifer Bilbrey, Alexis Holt, Sean Arthur Holt, Richard Holt and Julianna Holt; five great grandchildren, Abel James Henry Holt, Layla Bilbrey, Rocky Bilbrey, Kenzi Soto and Keegan Soto; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Mr. Holt was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will be receiving visitors Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Abilene Funeral Home, 3349 N. 12th St.
