DEATH TAKES WIDELY KNOWN BUSINESSMAN
Leo A. Lippert, 72, owner of Lippert Heating and Plumbing Company and chairman of the Charleston Housing Authority, died today in Charleston General Hospital after a short illness. He was a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a resident of Charleston since 1933.
Mr. Lippert served as state deputy, Knights of Columbus, and was a member of the 4th degree K. of C. He also was past president of the West Side Businessmen's Club; president, Charleston Master Plumbers Association; secretary, Building Contractors Association, member of the Charleston Area Chamber of Commerce, the Sierra Club of Charleston, the United Commercial Travelers of America, Lodge No. 202 and the BPOE.
He was a World War I veteran, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, advisory board of St. Francis Hospital, and a member of Catholic Athletic Association.
Surviving: wife, Margaret Garges Lippert; sisters, Mrs. Margaret Goenpl and Mrs. Regina Murphy and Mrs. Stella Ewing, all of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; brothers, R. Francis of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the Rev. Paul Joseph Lippert, chaplin of St. Joseph Hospital in Parkersburg.
The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon at Simpson Funeral Home.
