Kelly Laverne Durden age 82, died September 14, 2013 in a Destin, FL health care facility. He was born June 10, 1931 in Taylor County, FL to Jessie James Durden and Annie Belle Hood Durden. Kelly proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed college and pro football and following his favorite teams, Florida State and the Miami Dolphins. Kelly was an avid fisherman and spent countless hours in the lakes and ponds of Walton County and south Florida. Nothing was more important to Kelly as his family. He cherished the times he had with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kelly's faith in Jesus Christ sustained him as he bravely fought many health issues.
He was preceded in death by sons, Jimmy and Donald Ivey; father, Jessie James Durden; mother. Annie Belle Hood Durden; sister, Elizabeth Gunter; brother, Charles (Mac) Durden.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Louise Nobles Durden of DeFuniak Springs, daughters, Desiree Byrnes and husband Chris of Pensacola, Sondra Sims and husband Gary of DeFuniak Springs and Beth Sloan and husband Larry of NC, sons, Henry Burgess and wife Leritha of Darlington and Ricky Ivey of Natural Bridge. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren who he devoted his life to setting a good example for. Kelly is also survived by sister, Carolyn Williams and brothers, James Durden and wife Frances and James (Dub) Cruse and wife Ginne. He is also survived by an abundance of extended loved ones, including many nieces and nephews.

Services 11AM Wednesday September 18, 2013 at Gaskin Baptist Church Cemetery with Rodger Mims officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8PM at Evans Funeral Home in Florala.
Interment in the Gaskin Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors.
