Clara Hergenrider, age 72, of Belfry, Mont., passed away Sept. 10, 2013, at home with hospice care.

Clara was born Feb. 12, 1941, in Glasgow, Mont., to Carl and Helen. She married Rudy Hergenrider, July of 1996 in Belfry. She lived the majority of the years in Fairfield, Iowa, and lived in Belfry for the last 16 years.

Clara worked for Family Planning Clinic for 20 years in Fairfield and surrounding counties. While working full time, Clara attended Buena Vista College to receive a bachelors of arts degree in Social Work. Clara was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Fairfield, the Lutheran Church of Belfry, she loved to teach Sunday school and work with the elderly. Clara spent many hours with family and friends. Clara was Montana born, but enjoyed living the last years of her life collecting rocks and planting flowers in Montana countryside. Clara also enjoyed becoming a rancher's wife by helping build fences, moving the cows and other odd jobs to make the farm run.

Clara is survived by her husband, Rudy Hergenrider; three children, John Harper of Fairfield, Iowa, Bonita (Bill) Sporer of Lansing, Mich., and David (Crista) Harper of Packwood, Iowa; three stepchildren, Lynette (Richard) Rudio of Billings, Leslie Hergenrider of Billings and Joy Lynn (Jack) Walker of Spokane, Wash.; one brother, Bob (Norma) Carlson of Spencer, Iowa; and one grandchild, Jade Harper.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, one stepson, Allan Hergenrider; and one grandchild, Ezekiel Harper.

Per her wishes, her body was cremated and a memorial service will be held at the

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bridger on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Close friends and family will have a graveside service in Fairfield, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 21, at Fairfield Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to First Church of the Nazarene. Cards and memorials can be sent to Dave Harper, 1082 Cedar Ave., Packwood, IA 52580.

Arrangements are in the care of Dahl Funeral Chapel.
