Angel M. Taveras, 98, of Rosedale Street, a retired machine operator died Wednesday at home. He was the husband of Emilia (Espinal) Taveras.
Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, a son of the late Manuel R. and Rosa (Pons) Taveras, he came to this country in 1971, settling in Providence. Mr. Taveras was employed at Esposito Jewelry Co. before he retired in 1976.
He was a communicant of Assumption Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves seven sons, Ramon, Rafael, Juan, Angel, Quico, Polibio and Rene Taveras, all of Providence; five daughters Carmen Monsanto, Rosa Hernandez, Ana Silvia Rivera and Ana Luisa Checo, all of Providence, and Angela Taveras of Cranston; 36 grandchildren and 21 great-grand children.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 8 a.m. from Prata Funeral Home, 1488 Westminster St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in Assumption Church, Potters Avenue. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
